Importance |
Propaganda is a form of communication that manipulates the thoughts and opinions of the public not just for the sake of politics but to change and enforce certain opinions for any and all causes. It can be disguised in all forms of media such as music, artwork, films, speeches, billboards, magazine advertisements, newspapers, commercials, etc. The problem with propaganda is that it is extremely exclusive and one-sided. Propaganda is not always necessarily evil, however it is false and inaccurate. It puts extreme emphasis on the views or benefits of a single side while distorting the facts or burying the truths of the other sides. In significant instances of history propaganda was the primary reason for widespread ignorance and silence among citizens. Today propaganda usage is essentially geared toward the manipulation of people's views to promote a political cause or to simply get people to buy a product/give into cultural conformity.
